Hello everyone. I have some wonderful news to tell you all!

Just recently, I got a volunteer position at the Sault Ste Marie General Hospital. What I do is, I shred up a whole bunch of old documents and it sure keeps me busy. To tell you the truth, working at a hospital is something I've wanted to do for many years. I'm really glad to have that opportunity. The first thing I do when I go in is spray my hands with the Pure L, so that I don't catch anything while I'm there. When I went for my volunteer orientation, I heard that it's important to always wash your hands when you arrive and when you leave.

Congratulations! I would imagine a hospital would be a difficult environment for a visually impaired person to navigate. They are so huge with so many hallways, and when I could see, I seem to remember most of them have white tile floors and white walls and just seem too monochromatic. This would make it difficult for people with limited vision to find landmarks and tell one area from another. But good luck to you.

Is that all you're going to be doing? What sort of hospital work would you like in the future? Good luck, and keep us posted on how things are going.

There's another board on here somewhere where medical careers are discussed. Since I've stuck to machines myself, I had never given medical work a thought, but was surprised to find the amount of work people - even on here - do in that field. Good luck with it all.
